Halo: The Master Chief Collection is probably the best deal that gamers can get this year and maybe any other year. It collects all 4 of the Master Chief Halo games remastered in HD, while also containing a live-action series and a beta for Halo 5: Guardians.

Now 343 has revealed some new tidbits regarding this collection, and they are the following:

– It was planned years ago, with work beginning before Halo 4 was shipped

– It will also be available digitally, retaining all features of the physical version

– Halo 2 Anniversary, along with all other games in the collection, will contain separate online playlists dedicated to the online components of each respective game.

– Halo 2 originally ran at 30FPS and is now running at 60FPS, so the team is rebalancing everything to keep it all synced.

My judgment:

The fact that each game will have dedicated playlists makes me very happy, because that means that we’ll be able to play Halo 2 again without having to deal with maps funneling in from other games in the series. Pretty much all my questions have been answered regarding this collection now, and the answers were all the ones I was hoping for. Well done, 343, well done.
