Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky has been receiving quite a bit of hype ever since it was announced due to its unique gameplay and visuals. In the game you have the ability to explore the near-infinite bounds of space, with each planet being unique from the last.
Every game has to have a limit, right? Well, sort of. In an interview with IGN, Hello Studios’ co-founder Sean Murray said that it would take approximately 5 billion years to see everything in the game.
Yup, that’s a pretty long time.
No Man’s Sky is being developed for the PlayStation 4 and PC and is set to be released sometime next year.
Sony innocently enough released a demo for a horror game called P.T. at Gamescom, with many just assuming it was another horror game in a recent slew of horror games.
Well, they were wrong. Upon completion of the demo, it is revealed that P.T. is actually a new entry in the Silent Hill series called Silent Hills that is being developed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro, with actor Norman Reedus being the protagonist.
There aren’t any other details about the game yet, but you better believe more will be coming very soon. This is huge news, as Hideo Kojima is one of the most acclaimed developers in video games today and i’m beyond excited to see what he brings to the series. The poor PlayStation Vita. It doesn’t have many games, and the one shining gem that it does have is now being redesigned for PlayStation 4. That’s right, Tearaway is coming to the PlayStation 4 and is waving bye-bye to the sad and neglected Vita.
The game utilizes the PlayStation 4’s touch pad for various gameplay mechanics and to traverse through the game’s incredibly imaginative and vivid world. It’s from the creators of LittleBIGPlanet known as Media Molecule, so any charm contained within is entirely expected.
Another promising indie game was revealed at Sony’s Gamescom event, with this one being from Michel Ancel. The game is called WiLD and is being developed by his new indie studio exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
The video shows off a sort of fantasy-survival setting set in ancient times when hunters & gatherers lived. According to the video’s description, it is an online survival adventure game devoted to the wilderness that is set 10,000 years ago when humanity and nature were one.
At Sony’s Gamescom event, a new indie game from developer Housemarque was revealed to be coming out for the PlayStation 4. The game is a top down shooter called Alienation that is similar to Dead Nation, but this game features aliens instead of zombies. There’s a heck of a lot of action going on in this thing, and it looks like there’s plenty of different ways you can go about surviving.
If you’ve played any game in the Metal Gear Solid series, then you’ll know that the cardboard box is a pretty important element when it comes to stealth. Well, that particular element got the spotlight at today’s Gamescom event, where Hideo Kojima went into detail about what the infamous box is now capable of in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Yes, you read all of that correctly.
As I mentioned, the trailer shows off all of the new things that you can do with the cardboard box. You are now able to pop out of the top of the box, fire at an enemy and then hide back inside the box, display various pictures on the exterior to distract enemies, and even jump out of the side to sneak away while the enemies attention is focused on the box. As you can imagine, there is a hell of a lot you can do with this box.
Other than that, though, there wasn’t much more to say about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, unfortunately. We know that it’s coming sometime next year, but an exact date is unknown. The game is being developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Check out the new trailer below.
From Software showed off a brand new gameplay trailer for their upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne, and in it we get a better look at its sinister world and mysteries waiting within.
The game is heavily reminiscent of the developers’ Souls series and takes place in a town called Yharnam. The town is home to a remedy that has helped many travelers, but it has since become overrun by viscous individuals. Check out the gameplay trailer below. Bloodborne is being developed by From Software for the PlayStation 4 and is set to be released sometime in 2015.
inFAMOUS: Second Son remains the best reason to own a PlayStation 4 right now, and that great game is getting a standalone DLC story called inFAMOUS: First Light. The DLC got a new trailer at Gamescom today, which shows off some gameplay and cinematics.
First Light stars Abigail “Fetch” Walker, who was an important ally to Second Son‘s Delsin. She has special neon powers that allows her to move very quickly and rapidly shoot foes from a distance. The game seems to be an exploration on her background and her powers.
I’m all for more inFAMOUS: Second Son content, but i’m a little skeptical on what this DLC has to offer, from a gameplay perspective. Fetch was a great character that had awesome chemistry with Delsin, but Delsin eventually acquires her powers and masters them pretty well. Is this DLC just going to re-use the same abilities we’ve already used in Second Son? I’m hoping that isn’t the case and fans get some new ways to play in the inFAMOUS world.

Dead Island has a reputation for featuring an impressive assortment of ways to brutally kill zombies, and if this new gameplay trailer for Dead Island 2 is anything to go by then that fact is only going to be amplified in the game’s sequel.
The game takes place in California immediately after the events of Dead Island and Escape Dead Island as the state is put under quarantine due to this viscous zombie outbreak. It’s up to you to stay alive and mutilate as many zombies as you can in as many ways as you can come up with, so you better bring plenty of weapons.
The answer to the question of whether or not the progress you made in the recent Destiny beta would transfer over to the full game was up in the air for a long time, but now Bungie has an official answer. Unfortunately, none of the progress you made during the Destiny beta will transfer over to the full game when it releases on September 9th, 2014.
“Since the beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the beta build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”
Bungie does reaffirm that this will be the last time that you have to start all over again, as the next time you play the game it will be the full package:
“On September 9, you can create a Guardian who will keep you company for a good, long time. On a long-enough timeline, you might decide to delete him or her and start over again – but that will be your call to make.”
Honestly, I can understand why progress can’t be carried over due to all the changes being made, but it’s still disappointing to lose all of the progress made. Still, I had such a blast with both the Alpha and the Beta that i’m more than willing to start from scratch for a third time, only next time there will be a heck of a lot more to do. September 9th can’t come soon enough!
The fantastic Resident Evil GameCube remake that came out in 2002 is getting the remaster treatment. Capcom has announced that they will be remastered the game for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
As for what this remaster will be doing for the 2002 game, the game is being upgraded to 1080p on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, will have enhanced 3D models and textures, and will contain 5.1 surround sound. The game will also allow you to switch between the game’s original 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:9.
Deepsilver has revealed all of the games that they will be displaying at this years Gamescom convention, with over 150 stations being available for attendees to play them on.
Some of the games that they are set to display that are most prominent are Metro Redux, Risen 3: Titan Lords, Sacred 3, Dead Island 2 and Emergency 5.
All of these games definitely have different kinds of appeal, although Dead Island 2 is certainly the most popular game they have set to display. Their original Dead Island was a very successful survival horror role-playing game, and the sequel is currently targeting a Spring 2015 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Next year, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will debut for the PlayStation 4 and usher in one of Sony’s most beloved franchises on a next-gen console. The game is being helmed by Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, who were both responsible for The Last Of Us, but don’t expect them to be bringing any themes from that game over to the Uncharted series.
Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells said the following to Eurogamer:
“Uncharted is a completely different franchise, and appeals to its audience for completely different reasons.”
He goes on to discuss the two very different tones that each game has:
“I don’t think The Last of Us marks a new direction in tone that all of our future games are going to take on. We’d alienate a lot of our Uncharted fans. We want to keep it a light-hearted romp. I think from a technical standpoint we’ve learnt some things from the Last of Us that will feed into Uncharted – in fact it strengthens our desire to keep them distinct.”
I’m very glad to hear that Uncharted will be keeping with the light-hearted tone that has come before. After the amazing response to The Last of Us and the pretty gloomy teaser that Sony showed at E3, it was starting to look like things were heading to dark territories. Uncharted remains my favorite series that Sony has going, so let’s keep what makes it great intact.
No Man’s Sky is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing games of the year, with all gameplay we have seen being space travel through a world that is infinite.
This game was shown at PlayStation’s E3 press conference earlier this year, but it has now been confirmed by the developers that the game will also be coming to the PC at a later date.
Developer Hello Games’ Sean Murray said the following in an interview with Edge Magazine:
I actually got in a bit of trouble for saying that we wanted the game to feel really ‘console-y,. We’ve always had PC in mind but in my head [console-y] means solid framerate and immediate controls. I think a PC game can be ‘console-y’ and it’s intended as a compliment, but I get in trouble for saying it.”
No Man’s Sky does not currently have a release date.
Turtle Rock Studios’ highly-anticipated co-op FPS Evolve is set to start its alpha this weekend. If you’ve any interest in the title and have the systems that can run it, be sure to check your inbox as there just may be an alpha code waiting for you.
The twitter account for Evolve announced that the first wave of Evolve alpha codes have been sent out, although they also note that there will be more opportunities to get in on the alpha in the future.
