The future of the Halo series has been a confusing topic as of late, not so much in regards to their being any doubt that their will be a next game in the series so much as wondering what the hell that game will be. Last year a game simply titled Halo was teased at E3 (which confused a lot of people) and since then there have been several rumors suggesting that a remake of the classic Halo 2 is in the works.
Now, thanks to a job listing on the Microsoft careers website, it’s sounding more like the next game could be Halo 5. In the description, one of the responsibilities of the position is “balancing and tuning existing competitive experiences, creating, developing, and delivering all new Halo MP game modes.”
I would expect that the developers would be focusing more on just recreating what was so great about Halo 2’s multiplayer rather than needlessly adding to it, so I’m inclined to believe that this regards Halo 5. Due to the fact that each new installment attempts to bring something new and exciting to the table, this is probably just a push to ensure that does in fact happen in the next chronological installment in the franchise.
