Are There 30 Playable Characters In Mario Kart 8?

The character select screen has been captured by the people over at VG247 Italy, and it seems to reveal the amount of characters that will be playabable in the highly-anticipated Kart racer Mario Kart 8.

According to the pic, it looks like there will be 30 playable characters (or potentially 29 with a random slot), and 3 (or 2) unlockable characters. It has been reported that Diddy Kong will be a playable character, making him one of the unlockable characters. Check out the pic below.

It looks like there won’t be any more major surprises in terms of the roster for Mario Kart 8, but that’s perfectly fine with me. All the characters that I want in the game are in there, and as long as the game’s new mechanics fully deliver on their potential then all is well with the world!
