Xbox One Reputation System Rewards And Punishes Players

If you’re a mean player on Xbox Live, then it looks like you are in for a heap of trouble. Microsoft has announced a new Reputation System that is coming to Xbox One this month that will penalize those that have been getting complaints from other players.

Microsoft wrote the following in the announcement:

“Beginning this month, some players will start receiving reputation warnings as their reputations drop due to feedback from the community. The purpose of these communications is to remind players about their effect on the community and encourage them to have more positive interactions. These warnings are based on community feedback collected since Xbox One launched.”

Apparently, those who stay consistently in the green zone will get rewards and those in the red zone will get reduced matchmaking and their Twitch rights revoked. Also, it has been reported that the system is ready to handle sporadic or false reports.

I think this is a great idea. It’s great that the people who play by the rules will get some form of reward and the many jerks out there will be penalized. Hopefully, this will straighten out some of the madness happening on Xbox Live, though I know you can never get rid of it altogether. I’m just not sure just how far this will go or how well it will work.
