Over the last couple of days gamers have been displaying dissatisfaction over the recently reported fact that the upcoming prologue game Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will only last 2 hours. Well, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Hideo Kojima, is stepping up and defending what the reports are saying about this game.
Writing on his twitter account, Hideo Kojima said the follow:
“MGSV Ground Zeroes includes the main missions alongside 5 Side Ops. All missions include elements such as ‘Trial Record,’ where players can compete against each other online. This is not a linear game like the past. GZ offers freedom of approach & play style, which we hope players will enjoy over & over without boring,” he added. “I believe people will be satisfied with the ‘play time’ of GZ and will not stress the ‘clear time,’ which is a standard for linear games.”
Knowing a little more on what we can expect from this prologue game has reassured me that it isn’t a complete rip-off. From the very beginning it has been described as a prologue to a complete game, and even though reports were saying it was only 2 hours long, I had a feeling that there would be more to it. It sounds like this is a game that you can keep coming back to and there are side-missions to undertake in, as well. It still might not end up being worth $20-40, but if there is anyone to give the benefit of the doubt to, it’s Hideo Kojima. Every single installment in this beloved franchise has been critically acclaimed, and he’s making a gutsy move with this new direction for the franchise. That’s the kind of thing you gotta respect in this day and age where a new Call of Duty game is released every single year.
