Kojima Discusses Splitting Metal Gear Solid V Into Two Parts

Hideo Kojima has revealed that it was not always his intention to release Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes separately from full-game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

According to IGN, when development began on the game there was never a plant to release a prologue. However, as Kojima knew that the game would not be ready for the launch of the PlayStation 4 in Japan, he decided that they would release a prologue to give fans a “high-end” title.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes comes out on March 18 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

While I think it’s great that he wanted to give something to Japanese gamers who just got their shiny new PlayStation 4, it also makes me wonder just how much content this game is going to offer. It really sounds like it’s just a small chunk, and for a game that is selling for far more than what typical DLC sells for that worries me. We’ll see soon enough, I suppose!
