Cranky Kong Running Nintendo's Twitter Account Today

If you go on Nintendo of America‘s twitter account today you may notice that the tweets are a bit crankier than usual. Well, that is because the one and only Cranky Kong has taken over the twitter account (at Nintendo’s request, of course) and will be tweeting about the upcoming game Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (and other things) for today only.

Cranky’s first tweet was the following: “AHEM! This is Cranky Kong. Nintendo told me to deal with Twitter today. Once they explained it wasn’t some new animal buddy, I agreed.”

Cranky Kong has been a supporting character in the Donkey Kong series for quite a while now, as he first appeared in Donkey Kong Country in 1994. He has a bad-temper and is known for being a reluctant adviser of Donkey Kong.

Cranky Kong will appear next in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze which comes out on February 21st.

Condemn OR Condone: I think this is a cool move on Nintendo’s part. Not only does it generate some publicity for the upcoming game, but it’s just plain fun for Donkey Kong fans. Everyone will be able to tweet the character and reply to the most popular questions that were asked. Fan service + game promotion = win.
