In what is one of the most intriguing announcements to come along in a while, Harmonix, known for the smash series Rock Band, is creating a Musical First-Person Shooter with developer Hidden Path Entertainment, who are known for Counter Strike GO.
What this game is claiming to offer is a mash-up of two genres that could not be any more different: first-person shooter and music games. However, judging from what the trailer shows (watch that below) and what Harmonix is claiming this game will contain is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
Reportedly, the game will have the tropes of any popular FPS, but the music will dictate everything about those presets. You will have grenades that will only explode on the down-notes of a song, missiles that will only track its target if you pull the trigger to the beat of the song, and a terrain that can be completely transformed at certain “change-up” points in the song.
Chroma is currently in pre-alpha build, and you can sign up right here to request an invitation to try the game out for yourself. This will apparently launch at the end of this month, with Harmonix planning for a Fall release for the full game. Check out the announcement trailer below.
