Rumors had been swirling for a while lately about video game developer Renegade Kid releasing a remake of DS first-person shooter Moon, as last week a trademark was filed for a game called Moon Chronicles. Well, now the company has confirmed the rumors and announced that Moon Chronicles will be hitting the 3DS eShop this spring.
Moon Chronicles follows a character named Major Kane as he embarks on a mission to investigate a hatch of unknown origin on the moon. The game will be presented in episodes, with the first season being a remake of the original DS game. The roll-out plan and pricing model is as follows:
Episode 1: $8.99 (contains chapters 1 – 4 + 6 VR Missions: ~4 hours of gameplay).
Episode 2 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 5 – 8: ~2 hours of gameplay).
Episode 3 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 9 – 12: ~2 hours of gameplay).
Episode 4 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 13 – 16: ~2 hours of gameplay).
I never got around to playing the original Moon, but I am really looking forward to this remake on the 3DS. The FPS genre is something that is sorely lacking on the 3DS and just Nintendo consoles in general, so it will be refreshing to play this style of game. The original game got pretty good reviews, and I’m sure the remake will fix some of the issues the original had, so I’m all for some FPS action on 3DS this spring.
Plus, these are the guys that made the Dementium games, which freakin’ rule.
