Microsoft Does 180 On Xbox One Policies!

shhMicrosoft has made a huge announcement today that will completely eliminate all of the problems that many fans had since Xbox One‘s unveiling. Xbox President of Interactive Entertainment Business Don Mattrick made the announcement via an online message, which was a lengthy description of everything they have done to better suit what their fans want.

“Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.”

He begins describing the changes they have made to Xbox One.

“An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.”

He then goes on to bring up the used games issue.

“Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.”

Of course, with these big changes they have had to make some changes to the announced features for the system.

“These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.”

I think this is a fantastic move on Microsoft’s behalf, because for a while there it not only seemed like they were sticking with their original plans, but were being completely rude about the matter whenever it was brought up. Making these changes definitely erases the vast majority of the negative feelings I had regarding Xbox One, and am now feeling better about picking one up at some point. It’s nice when big companies like Microsoft are willing to take fans opinions into consideration and to alter their plans so drastically, especially when you know these plans were long in the making. Well done, Microsoft, well done.shh
