The 'Evolve' Beta Is Coming To Xbox One In January 2015

During Microsoft’s Gamescom press conference, 2K Games showed off a bit more of their upcoming multiplayer shooter Evolve. However, they also revealed that a beta would be coming shortly before the game releases, and thus far only on Xbox One.

When January rolls around, players will be able control 4 hunters tracking down a monster or the monster itself. There are no details on what will be included in the beta or how long it will last yet, but the fact that it’s so far only coming to Xbox One is big news.

Evolve is being developed by Turtle Rock Studios for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and is scheduled to be released on February 10th, 2015.

Evolve New Hunters & New Gameplay

Video Judgment… Evolve – Inside Look — New Hunters & New Gameplay

Turtle Rock Studios’ Evolve is shaping very nicely, and this latest video showing off some new classes continues to show off some really intriguing new gameplay elements.

This time around they have revealed 4 new characters that all cover each class in the game. The new Hunters are assault class Hyde, trapper class Maggie, medic class Lazarus and support class Bucket. Check out the video below. [youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faJvim3AIMY’%5D

My Judgment:

Although I was perfectly fine with just one set of Hunter characters, I think it’s really cool that Turtle Rock is giving the player choices. The new character that I found to be the most interesting was support class Bucket. His funny British accent mixed with the fact that he’s a frickin’ robot has me really excited to play as him this Fall.

Evolve Release Date Turtle Rock Studios

News Judgment… Evolve Launching This October

Turtle Rock Studio’s upcoming multiplayer shooter now has an official release date. The game will release on October 21st for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

If you pre-order the game at participating retailers you will receive the Monster Expansion Pack, which is an additional skin that will unlock as soon as the game is released. You also get an additional monster character that will be released after the game launches.

My Judgment:

Evolve is definitely one of the most promising new IPs to be coming out this year, and all of the gameplay videos that I have seen look fantastic. Left 4 Dead was an absolute blast, but what Turtle Rock Studios is tackling here seems so much more original and intriguing, in my opinion. It’s October release date is just about perfect, by the way. I’m loving that we’ll be getting both Alien: Isolation *and* Evolve in the same month. It’s like the horror gods are all descending in the same month… and I like that.

Game Informer Reveals 'Evolve' Gameplay

Evolve has been a multiplayer-focused shooter that has not been under the radar a bit as of late, but is one that I am eagerly anticipating. This game is coming from Turtle Rock Studios, who’s responsible for both Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, and this game looks to be a spiritual successor to that game. Info was pretty slim on how things would actually pan out, but Game Informer now has about 6 minutes of in-game footage with commentary for you to sink your teeth into. Continue reading
