Just about everything that has come from the Sunset Overdrive camp has been really impressive, so when a new trailer was shown at Gamescom it was really no surprise that it kept the momentum going.

In this video we are introduced to a former scientist of FizzCo names Floyd, who gives us a hilarious narration about everything that has happened since FizzCo screwed everything up, how he could have stopped it if they didn’t fire him, and well wishes for you during the apocalypse. Check out the new trailer below. [youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFrpMdDPnEY#t=24′%5D

Sunset Overdrive is being developed by Insomniac Games exclusively for the Xbox One and is set to be released on October 31st.

Here's A Closer Look At Some Of Sunset Overdrive's Weapons

The Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive is shaping up to be one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, as just about every new piece of information that comes out makes it look even better.

Now, over on Sunset TV, more information has been revealed about the game. Host Brandon Winfrey shows off some of the game’s crazy weapons, such as High Fidelity and TNTeddy. Check out the video below. [youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04uKME1dn4U’%5D

My Judgment:

Although I’ve seen these weapons before, hearing about the little nuances of the weapons is really great. I love that High Fidelity will have a random ricochet effect, which will hopefully result in some hilarious knock outs. Insomniac Games seems to be making all the right moves with this game.

Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy Coming To PlayStation Vita

Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy Coming To PS Vita

If you happen to be a Ratchet & Clank fan and own a PlayStation Vita then I have some very good news for you. Sony and Mass Media have announced that the PlayStation 3 collection of the first three Ratchet & Clank games will be getting a new version on the PlayStation Vita.

Insomniac Games’ James Stevenson said that, “Since the HD trilogy was released, one of the biggest requests from many of you was for a version of the Trilogy to come to PlayStation Vita. We’ve heard you loud and clear, and thanks to Sony and Mass Media, the Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy will be something you can play on the go from 2nd July (and from 9th July in Australia),”  said Insomanic Games’ James Stevenson.”

Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy on PS Vita will cost $30 and will be available both physically and digitally.

My Judgment:

I love the Ratchet & Clank series and I love the PlayStation Vita, so this is a win-win for me. Although I already own this HD collection on PlayStation 3, I can see this game playing great on the Vita due to its control-scheme and vibrant graphics. My first Ratchet & Clank experience was actually on the PSP with the spin-off game Clank, so I can attest to the series being a perfect fit on the hand-held.

Harmonix's Amplitude

Insomniac Games' Ted Price Donates $7,500 to Amplitude Kickstarter

Harmonix’s Amplitude has gotten a generous donation from Insomniac Games’ CEO Ted Price for the game’s Kickstarter. Price donated $7,500, praising music games and Harmonix, in general.

Price said the following:

“We are big fans of both Harmonix and Amplitude, and we want to see Amplitude HD. As such, Insomniac has backed the game at the $7,500 level. We hope if you liked Amplitude or Frequency, or just love great music games in general, you’ll consider pledging too.”

For donating that much money, Insomniac gets to put there song in the game. You can watch it in the video below. [youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHVjKXMlr6M’%5D

Yeah… that song is a classic…

Sunset Overdrive

'Sunset Overdrive' Became An Xbox One Exclusive Due To Rights Ownership

Sunset Overdrive ultimately became an exclusive title for the Xbox One because Microsoft allowed developer Insomniac Games to retain the rights to the game.

In an interview with IGN, co-creator Marcus Smith said the following:

“We pitched it a few different places, and it was really important to [Insomniac CEO] Ted [Price] that we own the IP, so some of the conversations broke down over that. With Microsoft, they just came in very energetic and excited to work with Insomniac, period.”

Of course, Insomniac Games we previously a company that developed exclusively for Sony, creating iconic series like Spyro the Dragon and Ratchet & Clank.

Sunset Overdrive

'Sunset Overdrive' Information Bonanza!

One of my most anticipated games for the Xbox One is Sunset Overdrive, developer Insomniac Games’  zany open-world shooter. When it was revealed at last year’s E3, everything I saw made it seem like a game that was oozing personality and creativity. I loved the art-style, the crazy looking characters, the vibrant colors and the fact that it was an open-world game in a great-looking city.

However, ever since then there has been little to no information about this Xbox One exclusive… UNTIL NOW!

You could say that the proverbial cat has been let out of the proverbial bag, as a bunch of new details have emerged that discuss many different aspects of the game.

The game takes place in a world controlled by FizzCo, who is a company that just released a new energy drink called Overcharge Delirium XT, which just so happens to have the minor side effect of transforming the user into a freakin’ mutant!

You control a janitor throughout all of this mayhem, who just so happened to be cleaning up the launch party for the new beverage when all of the crap hit the fan. Before long, all of the new mutants (now dubbed the OD’d) overrun the city and all hell breaks loose. That area of the city has been quarantined which results in you being trapped with all of said mutants.

The section of the city that is quarantined will contain day and night cycles that will always bring something new to the table. You will also encounter factions, who will range from being friendly to being down-right evil. Throughout the city random NPCs will give you sidequests, and your navigation of said city will consist of much wall-running, grinding and mantling as you take on the game’s crazy foes.

The following is a list of currently confirmed weapons in the game:

  • High Fidelity – fires ricocheting Vinyl discs
  • Roman Candle – Shoots fireworks that burn foes
  • TNTeddy Grenade Launcher – fires teddy bears strapped with explosives
  • Captain Ahab – Harpoon gun that fires slowly but can destroy crowds with energy drink
  • Freeze Gun – Turns OD’d into Christmas ornaments
  • AKFU*KYOUUP – No explanation required

The game also incorporates what is called the Style system, which gives you Amp upgrades and level-ups as you progress through the game. Amop upgrades allow you to enhance your weapons as well as adding status effects to melee attacks, and the game allows you to hold 8 weapons in all. Lastly, you will have complete control over character customization, making your character exactly the way you want to.

Sunset Overdrive does not have an official release date, but is expected to receive one at this year’s E3.
