'Halo 5: Guardians' Beta Coming This December, Featuring 7 Maps & 3 Modes

Microsoft has made a lot of big news at today’s Gamescom event, and here we have yet another big announcement coming from them. They announced that the beta for Halo 5: Guardians will start on December 29th, 2014 and run until January 17th, 2015. For those who haven’t put that together, that is three weeks. THREE OF ‘EM!

343 went into more detail about the beta, revealing that it will have 7 maps and 3 different modes to play in that all tailor to 4 vs 4 combat. The beta will also include 11 weapons and customizable armor sets for everyone to play around with, though all players will begin each match with the same loadouts.

To gain access to the Halo 5: Guardians beta, you will have to have purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection which releases for Xbox One on November 11th, 2014.

343 Industries Announces 'Halo 5: Guardians' Coming Fall 2015

343 Industries has pulled the curtain back and revealed that the next Halo game will be called Halo 5: Guardians and will release in the Fall of next year.

Bonnie Ross, who is the general manager of 343 Industries, made the announcement in a blog post on xbox.com. Ross said the following:

Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”

Much more information is planned to be revealed at this year’s E3.
