Ryse: Son of Rome was a launch title for Xbox One that ended up being a disappointment, and perhaps that is the reason why a promised add-on feature has now been cancelled.
According to a statement to Polygon, Microsoft has decided to cancel their plans to bring a challenge editor to the game. They said the following in the statement: “After careful consideration, we have decided to cease development on Ryse: Son of Rome’s challenge editor and focus on improving and expanding fans’ experience with the game through both free content updates and purchased add-on packs.”
What the challenge editor essentially was going to do was allow players to use the SmartGlass to create challenges that could then be taken on by others in the community.
Condemn OR Condone: It’s unfortunate that a promised feature has to be canned, but when it’s for a game that underperforms then it is to be expected. It sounds like they are still going to release more content for the game, but likely not anything as interesting as what the challenge editor proposed.
