WildStar Free-To-Play launch Trailer Revealed

The MMO WildStar has officially ditched its monthly subscription fee and has gone free-to-play, and to commemorate the occasion they have released a new trailer.

The trailer itself is made entirely in CG and is really just a goofy cinematic to introduce everyone to what the world is all about. It’s goofy, crazy and downright charming.

Wildstar Going Free-To-Play At The End Of This Month

We knew earlier this year that the sci-fi MMO Wildstar would be going free-to-play at some point this year, but now we know for sure when that will happen. CSOFT and Carbine Studios have revealed that the Wildstar free-to-play update will launch on September 29th, 2015.

There is also a closed beta test that is set to begin tomorrow, which will focus on fixing minor issues prior to the game’s free-to-play launch. These tweaks are necessary because this free-to-play update will not only be getting rid of the monthly subscription fee, but it will also be adding new content, enhanced games systems and several other improvements. This update will be called WildStar Reloaded.

The closed beta is currently available to all subscribers of the game, as well as those who have been invited and received a closed beta key. You can sign up for a closed beta key by clicking right here and clicking the “Sign Up For Beta” button and entering your email address.

WildStar Officially Going Free-To-Play This Fall

Another big MMO is going free to play, and the crowd goes wild!

WildStar will be dropping its monthly subscription fee and going free-to-play this fall, the developers have confirmed.

What this news means is that every player will be able to reach the level 50 cap, acquire all abilities, and will have access to all PVP and PVE content absolutely free. While there will still be an optional monthly fee, it will only be for bonus and aesthetic items that only the most hardcore players will even care about.

Not to leave the loyal customers who have been paying a monthly fee for the game in the dust, the devs also revealed that they will provide loyalty rewards for those who have held a subscription. These will range from a wide variety of things like new mounts, pets and more.

This is great news, in my opinion, as I think the monthly subscription fee for these games is nuts. I know that they regularly add new content, but for people who don’t plan on sinking ridiculous amounts of time into the game is it really worth it? I think with the free-to-play model more gamers are likely to try it out, seeing as that steep barrier of entry will be gone. Sweet news in my book!
