From Software’s 17-Year-Old PSone Game Shadow Tower Coming To PSN

From Software has been around for a long time, and now you can check out one of their earliest titles this year.

Pretty much everything From Software has done since 2009’s Demon’s Souls has been gold, but it’s easy to forget that they have been around for a lot longer than that. In fact, they’ve been around since the PSone days and one of their earliest titles will now be coming to PSN.

The game is called Shadow Tower and has you control a mercenary who has returned home to the holy land of Zeptar only to find that it has been sucked into the Underworld. Thus, you must clear out the evil forces in this dark and brooding first-person action RPG.

A release date for the game has not yet been revealed, though we do know that it is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

Prepare A Nap, Because PSN Will Be Down Briefly For Maintenance Today

Get your pillows ready, because PSN will be down for a couple hours.

Sony has announced that the PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance today, with the task being scheduled from 4pm – 6:30pm GMT.

As a result, users will not be able to log into account management or access the PlayStation Store, though you will be able to play online multiplayer if you log on prior to it. This downtime will affect the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

So, I guess you’ll just have to find a comfy spot and take a nice and refreshing nap. Sweet dreams!

PlayStation Plus January 2015 Free Games Revealed

Here’s the list of free games Sony is offering for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

Another month and another list of free games for those who are subscribed to Sony’s PlayStation Plus program. As is usually the case, gamers will be getting two free PS4 games, two free PS3 games and two free PS Vita games. However, one of the PS4 offerings is a standalone DLC that was highly regarded earlier this year.

The DLC in question is Infamous: First Light, the standalone companion to the game that focuses on Delsin’s awesome ally Fetch. PS4 players will also be getting the atmospheric puzzler The Swapper, giving gamers something to test their brain a bit.

Filling out the list is Prototype 2 and Duck Tales Remastered for the PS3 and Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition and Whoa Dave! for the PS Vita. Once again, Sony offers up some solid games for free.

PlayStation Network Will Be Down For 6 Hours Today

Sony is probably getting ready for the massive release day tomorrow.

If you’re planning on doing anything major on PSN today, you might want to postpone it. Sony has revealed that PSN will be down for 6 hours today for maintenance starting at noon. This means that you will not be able to play games online or access the PlayStation Store during the down time. However, if you happen to be logged into PSN before the maintenance happens then you will be able to remain online.

This is probably just a routine maintenance that Sony does to make sure things are in order, but it also comes on the eve of a major release day for games. Tomorrow marks the launch day for Grand Theft Auto V on current-gen systems, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Far Cry 4, so I’m sure they want to make sure they are properly prepared for the upcoming bombardment of users on PSN.

Sony Offering More Free Games As A Result Of The 2011 PSN Hack

Sony’s offering even more free stuff for the fans.

When PSN was hacked back in 2011 and was subsequently offline for a month, Sony did the classy thing and came back with the “Welcome Back” program. This program allowed users to download two PS3 games and 2 PSP games for free, more than making up for the long wait.

However, that didn’t please everyone, which lead to a class-action lawsuit being filed against Sony. Sony recently came to an agreement with the people they were being sued by, and are now also offering more free games for PSN users.

Sony said the following in a statement to GameSpot:

“While we continue to deny the allegations in the class action lawsuits, most of which had been previously dismissed by the trial court, we decided to move forward with a settlement to avoid the costs associated with lengthy litigation.”

They go to talk about no confirmed reports of identity theft:

“To date, the Sony entities have received no confirmed reports of identity theft linked to the attacks, and there is no evidence that anyone’s credit card information was accessed. We are glad that the parties are working toward a resolution of this matter and that our gamers will continue to enjoy our entertainment services.”

Users who got games during the Welcome Back program are able to get one game for PS3 or PSP, three PS3 themes or a three-month subscription to PSN. Those who did not get any games are able to pick two of the aforementioned benefits.

Sony will reportedly be adding more games to the list that you can choose from, but as of right now they are the following:

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • Killzone: Liberation
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • ModNation Racers
  • Patapon 3
  • Rain
  • Super Stardust HD
