The Halo 5: Guardians Cover Art Pits Spartan Locke Against Master Chief

Things are looking intense in the official cover art for Halo 5: Guardians.

Microsoft has revealed the official cover art of the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, and it marks a change of pace for the series.

Halo 5 Cover Art

In the image above you can see that the cover art features not only Master Chief, but also the mysterious Spartan Locke and a band of other Spartans. This is a stark contrast to every other main entry in the Master Chief saga, as all previous ones focused entirely on Master Chief.

What I’m more interested in is how they are gonna fit this on the Xbox One’s case. Either they’re gonna have to do some serious cropping or they’ll have to flip the whole things vertically, which would be pretty weird.

As far as more information on the game is concerned, the company will reveal a lot more at this year’s E3. Halo 5: Guardians is developed by 343 Industries exclusively for the Xbox One and will launch on October 27th.

Halo 5 Coming This October + 2 New Trailers Offer 2 Different Perspectives

Check out Master Chief’s latest adventure on October 27th.

Microsoft has revealed that Halo 5: Guardians will release on October 27th world wide. The latest entry in the franchise will be the first new adventure on Xbox One and will also supposedly mark a new direction for the series.

343 Industries head Bonnie Ross said the following regarding the game:

“We wanted Halo 5: Guardians to be the game that pays off the epic promise of the Halo universe in scope and scale and drama. We want to amaze players with the sheer size of the worlds and battles they’ll experience, even as they question everything they thought they knew about its heroes, marvels and mysteries. #HunttheTruth is only the beginning and we can”t wait to debut the game to Xbox fans around the world at E3 this June.”

Two new ads were also released for the game, with each one featuring a different perspective. The first one features Master Chief, while the second features the newcomer Spartan Locke. Check both of those out below.

Is Master Chief A Traitor? A Live-Action Halo 5 Trailer Will Tell Us This Sunday

Is Master Chief a traitor? Sounds like some people think so.

Halo 5: Guardians is set to receive a live-action trailer this Sunday, March 29th. This trailer will reportedly reveal the first details on the game’s story, which has intriguingly been hinting at Master Chief being pegged as a traitor. Check out a teaser below.

An episodic narrative audio series will also be released, with Microsoft providing the following information:

“The series stars Keegan-Michael Key (‘Key and Peele’) as Benjamin Giraud, a war-journalist who slowly unearths startling new revelations about who the Master Chief really is, forcing listeners to reevaluate what they really know about humanity’s greatest hero. Episodes will be released each week via Tumblr and syndicated across multiple podcast platforms for 12 weeks, leading up to E3 in June 2015.”

What is most interesting of all, however, is that Microsoft encourages fans to break down the above teaser frame-by-frame to discover “ominous new clues about the fate of the legendary Master Chief”.

Master Chief Is In ‘Destiny’… In A Way

If you look closely, you just may spot an uncanny resemblance to a famous Spartan in Destiny.

Many people have been spending countless hours trekking the unknown worlds of Bungie’s Destiny, coming across various goodies and what not along the way. However, a Reddit user with a keen eye came across something pretty interesting.

In the picture above, you may just notice that the building strikes a striking resemblance to a character you have heard of: Master Chief. His face was sneakily hidden on the back of one of the many buildings that can be found in the game, with the interior lights creating a makeshift visor effect.

Condemn O.R. Condone:

This has got to be one of the best Easter Eggs in recent memory. I mean… the damn building is Master Chief! I can’t wait to see what other Easter Eggs Bungie has hidden in this huge game.

343 Industries Announces ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ Coming Fall 2015

343 Industries has pulled the curtain back and revealed that the next Halo game will be called Halo 5: Guardians and will release in the Fall of next year.

Bonnie Ross, who is the general manager of 343 Industries, made the announcement in a blog post on Ross said the following:

Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”

Much more information is planned to be revealed at this year’s E3.
