Konami Confirms That Silent Hills Has Been Cancelled

The game that everyone has been anticipating is cancelled, but all is not lost just yet.

It was revealed over the weekend that the Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro collaboration of Silent Hills‘ future was looking grim.

Now, Konami has released an official statement to Kotaku confirming that the game is indeed cancelled. Here’s what they said:

“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.”

However, all is not lost as Konami also said that future discussion on Silent Hills projects with Kojima and Del Toro are underway. Here’s what they said about that:

“In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.”

‘P.T.’ Is Actually A New Silent Hill Game From Hideo Kojima Called ‘Silent Hills’

Silent Hill is back with Hideo Kojima at the helm.

Sony innocently enough released a demo for a horror game called P.T. at Gamescom, with many just assuming it was another horror game in a recent slew of horror games.

Well, they were wrong. Upon completion of the demo, it is revealed that P.T. is actually a new entry in the Silent Hill series called Silent Hills that is being developed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro, with actor Norman Reedus being the protagonist.

There aren’t any other details about the game yet, but you better believe more will be coming very soon. This is huge news, as Hideo Kojima is one of the most acclaimed developers in video games today and i’m beyond excited to see what he brings to the series. Check out the teaser for Silent Hills below.
