Buy Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition And Get The Whole Series For Free

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is launching later this month, and now a new deal has been announced to try and get more people on board. If you purchase the game and log on to Xbox Live between August 25th and December 31st, you’ll get all previous games in the series for free via the Backward Compatibility service.

Gears Of War

The Backward Compatibility service is set to launch this Fall, and if you had the game’s on Xbox 360 already you’ll be able to now pop them into Xbox One and play them.

Also, for those of you who are a part of the Xbox One preview program, you’ll find that you’ll be able to play the original version of Gears of War today in Backward Compatibility.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is set to launch on Xbox One on August 25th. It will also be coming to PC at some point, though that version’s release date has not been revealed just yet.

Gears Of War Studio Black Tusk Renamed The Coalition

The studio that has been hard at work on the next entry in the Gear of War series, Black Tusk, has received a name change today. According to studio head Rod Fergusson, the studio will now be called The Coalition.

He said the following about the name change:

“The Vancouver-based Xbox team working on the Gears of War franchise will be known as The Coalition. A coalition is a team of diverse individuals working together for a common purpose, a concept that we feel describes our studio quite well.”

He goes on to describe the relevance of the term in Gears of War:

“Fans will also recognize the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) from Gears of War lore. Moving forward, when you hear The Coalition, we want you to think of Gears of War.”

Check out the video of Fergusson discussing the name change below.

The New Gears Of War Game Will Not Release On Xbox 360

I hope you have an Xbox One, because Gears of War is saying goodbye to the console it started on.

The upcoming Gears of War game developed by Black Tusk will not be a cross-gen release, the developer has confirmed.

The news was confirmed on twitter when a fan asked if the game would be available for Xbox 360, to which game developer Jack Felling responded to by saying, “No sorry, it won’t be available on the 360 but it will be available for the Xbox One!”

This is a good move, in my opinion, as there are far too many games that get released these days that suffer due to the fact that they are cross-gen. I understand that it makes more sense from a sales perspective, but to deliver a truly next-gen experience you need to ditch the previous gen so it can live up to its full potential.

We still know very little about what Black Tusk has been cooking up for the Gears of War series, but it is expected to be shown at this year’s E3 event in June.

No Marcus Fenix Collection, But Other Gears Of War Projects Are In The Works

There’s more than one new Gears of War project in the works.

With all of the recent remasters of just about every last-gen gaming coming to new-gen systems, the rumors of a Gears of War Marcus Fenix collection seemed pretty legit. However, Black Tusk’s Studio Manager has revealed that no such plans are in the works.

Rod Ferguson clarified rumors by tweeting the following:

“I love the passion, but there’s no Marcus Fenix Collection. We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. I’ll see you at E3!”

So, even though some are bummed about not getting a shiny remaster of the original 3 Gears of War games, we now know that there’s more than one new project being hammered out for the series. This will no doubt serve as a welcoming relief for longtime fans, but now we have to wait until E3 to find out what the heck these damn projects are.

‘Gears Of War’ Creator Revealing New Game Soon

Cliff Bleszinski is the man that most will know as the game designer from Epic that created the incredibly-successful Gears of War franchise, dating back to the first game on the Xbox 360 back in 2006. However, he left Epic games and seemingly the video game industry in general not too long ago.

That is all about to change, apparently, as he has taken to his popular twitter account to post the following:

It is unknown what Cliff has been up to, but he previously stated interest in reviving the arena-style shooter genre. Whatever the heck it is he’s working on, we’ll find out within the next 7 days.

Microsoft Taking Time With Gears Of War On Xbox One

The gears are moving slowly but surely

Gears Of War

It was announced not too long ago that Epic Games handed their Gears of War franchise over to Black Tusk Studios to focus on new things.
