Is ‘The Last Guardian’ Officially A PlayStation 4 Game Now?

It’s been in development as a PlayStation 3 game for years, but recent comments may be implying that The Last Guardian is headed for PlayStation 4.

So, you probably know of the long-running development time of the The Last Guardian. It was originally announced in 2009 for the PlayStation 3, yet it has seen countless delays and even got to points where many assumed it was cancelled. However, in recent months the game has been getting a lot of buzz as news continues to slowly come out about development going well.

Still, considering this was originally a PlayStation 3 game, would they really stick to a last-gen system now that PlayStation 4 is coming into its own? Well, if a recent quote from game creator Fumito Ueda is to be taken a certain way, then The Last Guardian just might be making the jump to PlayStation 4.

Here’s what Ueda had to say about The Last Guardian in the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation (via Kotaku):

“Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we’re making progress under completely new conditions. I’m also working on some other things that I’ll hopefully be able to show in time if progress is smooth.”

Many are assuming that these “completely new conditions” are the fact that the game is now working within the boundaries of the PlayStation 4 and not the PlayStation 3. There’s still the potential that this thing could end up being a cross-gen game, but for such a highly-anticipated game you would think Sony would want it to be a PS4 exclusive. Their 2015 line-up isn’t exactly overflowing with exclusive titles, but add The Last Guardian and things get much more interesting for the system.
