Final Fantasy XIV May End Up On Xbox One… And Even NX

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is one of the best turnaround success stories ever seen for a video game. The original version was a buggy mess that severely damaged the series’ reputation, but the devs were able to go back to the drawing board and release a new version that everyone loves now.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

In fact, they love it so much that there is continuously demand for it to be brought to other platforms. Currently, the game is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC (which all coexist on the same servers), but there are talks to broaden its reach even more. Dualshockers claims that Square Enix is in talks with Microsoft to bring the game to Xbox One. Apparently, the issue that has been holding this deal back is that the game would be cross-play with Sony platforms, meaning that both PlayStation and Xbox players would be playing together.

Can’t have that! *rolls eyes*

They were also asked on whether or not the game could be coming to Nintendo’s codenamed NX console, to which they replied that they would have to wait and see if the console could handle the game. However, it sounds like they are completely open to the possibility, so that’s a good thing to hear. I would also be willing to bet that they are wary of the fact that the NX is following up a financially disappointing console.
