Final Fantasy VIII‘s Squall Leonhart is one of my favorite characters in the entire Final Fantasy universe (screw you, haters!) and now Square Enix has (finally) released a trailer that focuses on him opening up a can of whoopass on his opponents.
The trailer is pretty awesome, with Squall showing off moves like Lion Heart and even drawing from his opponents to gather up some energy. I also have to say that the remixed version of one of the battle themes from Final Fantasy VIII that is remixed for this trailer is sweet and makes me want to listen to it over and over.
Dissidia Final Fantasy will be launching in Japanese arcades on November 26th, though a console release has not been confirmed.
While the news of Final Fantasy VII hitting smartphones is certainly something to be excited about, this news has me even more stoked. The card-battling mini-game from Final Fantasy VIII called Triple Triad is now available to download and play for free on both iOS and Android.
You can access this game through the Final Fantasy Portal app, with the game consisting of over 300 cards based on characters and monsters from not only VIII, but now from the entire franchise.
This news makes me very happy, as this is honestly one of the best card games I’ve ever played. It’s awesome to see it back in the limelight with all new cards and a new multiplayer mode that pits you against actual people. If you’ve never gotten a chance to play this game then I highly recommend you give it a download.
