‘Final Fantasy Type-0 HD’ Trailer Compares Graphics Before And After

Check out the before and after shots of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

Now that we know that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be making its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 17th, 2015, Square Enix has released a new trailer showing off the visual improvements from the 2011 game to the 2015 version.

The game itself looks to be a pretty big departure from what we’ve seen from the series in the past, with the combat appearing more closely to the upcoming Final Fantasy XV. This game is much more action-packed and has a more rigid, mission-based structure compared to the more vast and expansive titles in the past.

Game director Hajime Tabata said the following to GameSpot about the game:

“When we were planning the combat system..it is completely different from any you’ve seen in past Final Fantasy title, we didn’t want it to be detached. We wanted it to be on the same map. So to get a realistic feel for the combat itself, rather than it being on another map, we wanted the characters to be able to fight the enemies on the same field.”

He goes on to discuss the more realistic and mature themes that this game has compared to titles in the series’ past:

“Since we are utilizing magic to combat the enemies, we wanted it to be more realistic in terms of the damage that fire may inflict on an enemy soldier. So, if they’re hit by magic, which is very strong, if an enemy is hit by fire, it will be extremely painful and they might incinerate to death. So those are the key features, and the realistic elements that I wanted to draw on, for this combat system. When I initially created the concept document for this particular title, the keywords ‘killed in action’ were most important. That’s why I really wanted to focus on the theme of life and death, and that’s really at the core and the focus of this game. I believe that these kind of themes make this a mature title.”

‘Final Fantasy XV’ Demo Coming With ‘Type-0 HD’ Next Year?

The return of Final Fantasy may be sooner than we think.

Final Fantasy XV has been eagerly anticipated by fans for years now, as it is coined to be the game that may finally get the series back on the right track after a series of lack-luster installments. We still have very little information on the game, but now there are rumors that a demo could be released as soon as next Spring.

It’s not going to be released as a free download on PSN or XBL, though, as reports are saying that it will be bundled with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. Type-0 HD is a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One port of the PSP game that only released in Japan in 2011. Apparently, this game will release on a reported date of March 17th.

Now, all of this information needs to be taken with a grain of salt as nothing is official yet, but this is one of those cases where the information in question seems like it isn’t far off the mark. Perhaps the Tokyo Game Show will pull the curtain on this mystery and truly give Final Fantasy fans something to anticipate next year.
