Xbox Live’s Games With Gold For August 2014 Revealed

Some cool games for those interested.

Four new games are coming at Xbox gamers for free in August, with two games coming to Xbox 360 and the other two coming to Xbox One.

On the Xbox 360 front we have Motocross Madness that will be available for free from August 1st to August 15th. The game was originally a PC motocross racing game that was re-released on Xbox Live last year. From August 16th to August 31st gamers will have the opportunity to download the critically-acclaimed stealth game Dishonored.

Things aren’t quite as interesting on the Xbox One front. The two games that will be available to download are Crimson Dragon and Strike Suit Zero: Director’s Cut. Both of the games are types of arcade shooters, though neither one particularly blew anyone away.

Bravely Default Has Sold Over 1 Million Copies

The retro RPG is doing just fine.

Who says old-school RPGs are dead? The 3DS’ great Bravely Default has defied the odds and sold over a million copies since it was released at the beginning of this year.

Siliconera reports that 400,000 of those sales were from Japan and the other 600,000 are split between other countries. It’s no surprise the game is doing so well, as a solid RPG is hard to come by these days and Bravely Default is an example of a developer doing the genre really well.

There is already a sequel to Bravely Default that is in development, which currently has the title of Bravely Second. The developers have said that the sequel will have a more mature tone compared to the first game, as more dark and intense themes enter into the narrative. The sequel does not have a release date as of yet.

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Could Completely Change The Franchise

Expect crazy new experiences in the next Call of Duty!

Sledgehammer has gone on record saying that their upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare could really shake up the multiplayer aspect of the Call of Duty franchise.

Co-founder Michael Condrey said the following to OXM about the game’s enhanced movement and control:

“We’ve got heavy weapons, which is sort of another new class, verticality through the boost jump – you can imagine what that does to the multiplayer experience, and then cloak, super-strength, and then off-the-controller changes, like the exo-boost and the exo-slide.

He then discusses a new combo the game will feature:

“We’ve got a really great combo now with the boost jump and then a lethal slam from above. We feel like it’s a pretty fundamental change to the second-to-second combat, as well as the broader linear experience that you see in campaign.”

He ends with how he thinks the exo is revolutionary:

“The shotgun is a close quarters weapon. A short ranged, broad angle weapon like the shotgun is pretty ineffective against a player who can boost out of the way really quickly, right? So there are a lot of really interesting and unique challenges and opportunities, and I think when we talk about MP in more detail you’ll get to see that, but the variety that the new controls and the exo bring to gameplay is pretty revolutionary.”

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Release Date Moved Up

You’ll be coming to Middle-earth a bit sooner than expected.

Warner Bros. Interactive has revealed that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has moved up a week, making it yet another game that is sneaking out of the over-crowded month of October.

The game was originally set to release on October 7th, but now it is hitting North America on September 30th. The game will then be released on PC and Steam on October 2nd.

WB claims that the release was moved up due to fans excitement, but I think it’s pretty obvious that October 7th  was simply too crowded of a release date. The date still hols NBA 2k15, DriveClub and Alien: Isolation, with Dragon Age: Inquisition recently being pushed back to November from its original October 7th release date.

Hyrule Warriors Features Trailer Recaps Everything We Know So Far

Get all caught up on Hyrule Warriors with one trailer.

Hyrule Warriors is just a couple of months away from its launch, and now a new features trailer showcases everything that we have learned so far about the game. If you’ve missed all of the brief trailers released previously, then this one will get you all caught up.

In the trailer we get a look at all of the game’s playable characters, which range from the obvious Link and Zelda to the not so obvious Darunia and Ruto. It also goes into some of the game’s features like local co-op, hidden items and mini-games.

Check out the features trailer below.

Hyrule Warriors is being developed by Omega Force, Team Ninja and Nintendo SPD for the Wii U. It is currently set to be released on September 26th, 2014.

Sonic Boom Games Coming Out This November

Once again, the 3DS version draws first blood!

Sonic’s latest adventure, called Sonic Boom, has finally been given a release date. The 3DS version is called Shattered Crystal and is coming out on November 11th, while the Wii U version is called Rise of Lyric and is coming out on November 18th.

The Sonic Boom games marks a huge departure from the Sonic formula, as neither game is being developed by Sonic Team. Shattered Crystal is being developed by Sanzaru Games, while the Rise of Lyric is being developed by Big Red Button.

It’s interesting that these titles will be exclusive to Nintendo platforms, but I’m still really worried about how their overall quality will turn out. The Sonic series has been more misses than hits, and the fact that these games will supposedly line up with a kids TV show doesn’t exactly spark confidence.
