Over 25 Million People Have Played Destiny

Destiny The Taken King 25 Million

Ever since Bungie’s MMOFPS Destiny launched last year it has been a huge success, regardless of the fact that it was a very flawed game. Still, the core ingredients were so good that it kept millions of people on board, and their loyalty has been rewarded with updates that have improved the game greatly.

The last big update was the expansion called The Taken King, which added 5 million users to the game which now brings the player total up to 25 million. Activision confirmed these numbers yesterday and they said the following:

“Day-one downloads broke PlayStation records, day-one engagement saw the highest number of active players in Destiny’s history, daily player engagement is now well above three hours per day and the Destiny community has climbed to over 25 million players.”

I admit that I was initially super hyped for the game, taking part in both the game’s alpha and beta testing. However, once the game actually launched with not much more content and a story that seemed purposely removed from the game for the sake of future DLC it kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. I am tempted to jump back in and see how much it has improved, though.
