Nobody really likes Sonic anymore, and that fact has finally dawned on the collective noggin of SEGA. However, in recent months they have been talking about turning over a new leaf and righting the (many) wrongs that have plagued the series for years now.
SEGA Europe Marketing Director Jon Rooke recently made a statement about what the new Sonic game will be like, which you can read below:
“Sega has publicly apologized to the fans as the quality of console games in the Sonic franchise hasn’t been acceptable over recent years. It’s been tough translating that iconic side scrolling 2D experience from the 90s into 3D but Sonic is still huge for us so the new games will be more inspired by how it played in its heyday.”
This is exactly what fans want to hear and hopefully they’ll be able to follow through with their plans. As long as we don’t get another game like Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric they’re on the right track.
