The Kojima & Konami Split Was Foretold In A Ground Zeroes Mission

Metal-Gear-Solid-V

2015 has been filled with reports of Kojima and Konami parting ways in a rather abrupt but also secretive fashion, though it looks like Kojima foretold what was about to happen in last year’s Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

In the mission called Deja Vu you play as Metal Gear Solid-era Solid Snake, and the objective of the mission is to erase all of Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid logos in the area. This would be foreboding enough on its own, but during the mission you hear the following message:

“You might be able to erase the markings, but the memories will never disappear.”

While these words didn’t mean much back then, in recent months that had Konami and Kojima parting ways and Konami recently removing any and all credit to Kojima on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s box art certainly makes you read them in a different light. Check out the video above detailing the level in the game above.
