PlayStation Plus members get to download several free games each month on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and the selection of games to download are usually really good. While there are sometimes some games that nobody really cares about playing, for the most part they do a good job of offering something that is on a lot of people’s wish lists.
However, PlayStation is looking to tailor to gamers’ wishes even more by allowing them to vote on what the next batch of free games will be. Here’s what SCEA’s John Koller said regarding this new system:
“The game with the most votes will automatically be included in our future free game lineup for PlayStation Plus. If your pick didn’t make the lineup, don’t worry. In the first promotion, PlayStation Plus members can get the runner ups at a discount. We love to listen to our fans – and we’re super excited to launch this promotion.”
This sounds like a pretty good idea to me, though I think the biggest worry is that the collective group of gamers might only vote for the more well known titles like current favorite Knack. Still, it’s a good idea to put discounts on the runner-up games, so the gamers who voted for those ones won’t be left too disappointing. More details will be released soon regarding the promotion, so stay tuned!
Developer Supermassive Games has announced that their PlayStation 4 exclusive horror game Until Dawn has officially gone gold. Now all that’s left to do is send the game to factories for production to get ready for its release on August 25th.
This game is one that has me cautiously optimistic, as the idea of what is essentially a teen horror movie that bends towards the decisions you make could be very cool. There are also multiple endings that can be seen, meaning that the game will definitely have a good amount of replay value for those wanting to see every one. I’m just hoping that the story goes beyond just standard teen slasher tropes.
The game was originally intended to be a PlayStation 3 title with PlayStation Move support, but after that was tossed to the wayside they decided to retool it for PlayStation 4. The game follows a group of 8 friends who take a trip to a snowy cabin in the mountains. Of course, something is there that is trying to kill them all and they must survive the horror until dawn. The game features the likeness of notable actors such as Hayden Panettiere, Brett Dalton and Rami Malek.
Team17 is sure going to have their hands full, as along with helping production with Yooka-Laylee they have also just announced they are working on two new Worms games.
The first of the two is called Worms WMD and is for the Xbox One and PC, which features a brand new hand-drawn art style. This game will be arriving sometime next year.
The other game is simply called Worms 4 and is being developed exclusively for iOS. This one is coming next month and will feature online multiplayer as well as 80 campaign missions.
As far as the Worms series going I’m not all too familiar with it, but Worms WMD looks like it could be something new and cool. An announcement for a game that’s coming out next month usually isn’t anything to get all that excited about, though.
The fantastic Danganronpa series is continuing this September with the release of a spin off called Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls. This game is set to take place in between the first two games in the series, and these new screenshots show off a bit of what to expect.
The two batches of screenshots focus on Truth Bullets and Monokumas, respectively, and you can check them out directly below.
Danganronpa Another Epsiode: Ultra Despair Girls is developed by Spike Chunsoft exclusively for the PlayStation Vita. It launches on September 1st, 2015.
New information regarding Star Wars Battlefront‘s 10v10 multiplayer mode has been revealed, which we now know is called Blast. The mode puts Rebels and Imperials against each other in a race to 100 kills or to lead when the 10-minute timer runs out.
Lead level designer Dennis Brännvall said the following regarding the mode:
“One battle you’ll be fighting within interior levels on Endor or Sullust. In the next battle, you might find yourselves among Tatooine’s dusty canyons, or inside the undeniably cool Ice Caves on Hoth. My favorite is the verticality of Tatooine, fighting by the Sandcrawler.”
Star Wars Battlefront launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 17th, 2015.
Rocket League is set to receive some new content next month with the Supersonic Fury DLC pack. This is a DLC pack done right, as some of it is free and some of it is paid.
The free update will bring a new arena called Utopia Coliseum, Spectator Mode, updated goal and demolition explosions, more country flags and a new song.
The paid Supersonic Fury DLC is $3.99 and will contain the American muscle car Dominus and the Japanese street racer Takumi, six new decals for each, and customization options for all cars.
Rocket League‘s Supersonic Fury DLC Pack launches on August 4th. Check out the trailer for it directly below.
Previous reports of Ubisoft bringing the Wii U’s ZombiU to other consoles has now been proven true, as the game is now called Zombi and it’s launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC next month. Check out the new trailer for the game directly below.
Ubisoft claims that the game has been optimized for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. I assume they mean the graphics have been touched up a little and the controls have been tweaked to accommodate for the lack of the gamepad.
Zombi will launch on August 18th.
