I love how much the Saints Row series has evolved over the years. What started as a simple GTA clone has turned into an open-world game with bizarre and over-the-top humor and super-powers exist. Even though it isn’t a full-blown Saints Row V that everyone was hoping for, it will at least offer plays another reason to dive back into Saints Row. Hopefully a true sequel isn’t too far behind this stand-alone expansion.
A bunch of great goodies headed your way over the course of the next 24 hours.
The latest title update for Naughty Dogs’ The Last of Us is rolling out right now, and with it comes some welcomed improvements.
First up, the matchmaking connection times are being improved, which will be a huge sigh of relief for those that have spent up to a half hour just trying to get their first game off the ground. Second up, the update will also be adding two new free maps to the fray, which are called Beach and Financial Plaza. The update will be available for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.
Check out a video that shows off the new maps set to be rolling out in the update below.

It’s great news to hear that matchmaking times are going to be improved, because even though The Last of Us‘ multiplayer is surprisingly good, the wait times to just get a match going could be pretty ridiculous. For a game that has as much buzz and interest as The Last of Us does, waiting that long to get the action going was just crazy. However, I think that it’s a great move by Naughty Dog by releasing these 2 new maps for free, as it really shows that they care about their fans and sincerely want to thank them for putting up with unnecessarily long matchmaking times. I can’t think of a better time for anyone who hasn’t taken the plunge into the world of The Last of Us then right now.
Will Telltale Games’ Game of Throne adaptation be set during the events of Book 5?
Ever since Telltale Games revealed that they would be adapting George R. R. Martin’s hugely popular Game of Thrones novels into one of their episodic adventures, there has been a surprising lack of information regarding when it would be coming out and what exactly it would be covering. Now, thanks to a new image teased by the developer, we have a bit more to go on.
The teaser image that they released contains a quote that reads, “…trackers and hunters sworn to Deepwood with clan names like Forrester and Woods, Branch and Bole,” which is line that is taken directly from the fifth book in the series, A Dance With Dragons.
Check out the teaser image below.

I’m not as huge into the TV series as many are, but I’m still very interested to see how Telltale Games tackles this very interesting material. Considering they’ve adapted so many popular licenses and made many of them better, I’m pretty confident that their Game of Thrones adaptation will get a similar treatment. It would also be cool if it does end up coinciding with the show in some way, though I did quite like how Telltale’s Walking Dead adaptation is a whole different beast (and better for it).
A very impressive list has been released that showcases what will be coming to the Wii U next year.
While the Wii U may just finally be getting the ball rolling with a big title like Mario Kart 8 selling loads and Super Smash Bros. still on the horizon, it looks like next year will be the first year that things really take off. It has been revealed by Nintendo UK that 14 games will be coming to the Wii U at some point in 2015, and the list of games is very impressive. Check it out below.
Art Academy (working title)
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Kirby (working title)
The Legend of Zelda
Mario Party 10
Mario vs. Donkey Kong (working title)
Project Giant Robot
Project Giant Guard
Star Fox (working title)
Xeno Blade Chronicles X
Yoshi’s Woolly World
If all of these titles due end up being released in 2015 and live up to their potential, then the Wii U is set to gain some serious ground next year. The Legend of Zelda alone is gonna sell a ton, but also add in a new Star Fox, Kirby and Yoshi game and you’ve got a recipe for success. I’m also really interested to see how Splatoon turns out, because the footage that was shown during a Nintendo Direct broadcast looked very promising. Here’s to hoping the Wii U finds future success.
Well, I can’t say I saw this one coming. Nintendo has announced that they will be releasing new models of both the 3DS and 3DS XL, with the new systems going on sale first in Japan this October.
So, what do these systems bring to the table that the original versions don’t? Well, they will apparently have an improved CPU that will improve the 3D effect and reduce distortion that happens when you move your head while playing. Also, some pretty big aesthetic changes are coming to the system by way of a second (tiny) analog stick and ZL and ZR shoulder buttons. NFC supports is also built in directly to the system, which will eliminate the need to purchase an add-on for those interested in utilizing the company’s upcoming Amiibo characters.
There are claims that, due to the advanced CPU, certain games will only be compatible with these newer systems, but if that is the case then that would be really lame. There’s no reason for Nintendo to go and basically say, “Hey! If you wanna play these specific 3DS games then you’re gonna have to get a newer model! KTHXBYE!!!”
Regardless of what the truth is, the systems aren’t expected to launch outside of Japan until sometime next year. Until then, scroll down to check out a bunch of images of the new systems and their specs.
