XSEED Releasing PSP Game ‘Brandish: The Dark Revenant’ Next Month

The PSP will be getting a game release in 2015. Oh, the glory!

The PSP may not be a system that gets any kind of support anymore thanks to its successor, PS Vita, but that isn’t stopping XSEED Games from releasing one for the great handheld.

Brandish: The Dark Revenant originally released for the Super Nintendo in 1995, though developer Nihon Falcom originally passed on localizing the 2009 remake for the PSP… UNTIL NOW. Almost five years after the remake was released on the PSP in Japan, it will release in January 2015 in North America.

If you find that you don’t have a PSP and are worried that you’ll miss out on this game, XSEED assures that the game will be fully compatible with both the PS Vita and PS TV. While you’re here, why not check out some screenshots from the game below?

PlayStation Network Will Be Down For 6 Hours Today

Sony is probably getting ready for the massive release day tomorrow.

If you’re planning on doing anything major on PSN today, you might want to postpone it. Sony has revealed that PSN will be down for 6 hours today for maintenance starting at noon. This means that you will not be able to play games online or access the PlayStation Store during the down time. However, if you happen to be logged into PSN before the maintenance happens then you will be able to remain online.

This is probably just a routine maintenance that Sony does to make sure things are in order, but it also comes on the eve of a major release day for games. Tomorrow marks the launch day for Grand Theft Auto V on current-gen systems, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Far Cry 4, so I’m sure they want to make sure they are properly prepared for the upcoming bombardment of users on PSN.

Sony Releases PlayStation 20th Anniversary Video

So many great games in two decades.

Can you believe it has been 20 years since the PlayStation brand hit the gaming world and changed it forever? Well, Sony is feeling all nostalgic and has gone and released a video on their Japanese YouTube channel that shows off clips of some of their most beloved games through the years. Check it out below.

This just goes to show how consistently awesome the PlayStation brand has been for 20 years now, with no signs of slowing down being in sight. 2014 might not have been the best year for Sony’s new PlayStation 4, but their 2015 lineup is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

‘Skullgirls Encore’ Free Tomorrow Via PlayStation Plus

Reverge Labs’ upcoming fighting-game called Skull Girls Encore is releasing on PlayStation Plus in the U.S. tomorrow, and all subscribers will be able to add the game to their Instant Game Collection for free.

Skullgirls Encore has a sharp and vivid 2d art style that reminds me of the classic arcade fighting games. In this game, you control a slew of different Skull Girls that are all complete with crazy and unique attacks for taking people down.

The original Skullgirls released for PSN and XBLA on April 10th, 2012.

‘Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ DLC Available Now For Free

Back when Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes launched, it was revealed that both PlayStation and Xbox players would be getting console-exclusive missions. For PlayStation players the mission was called Deja Vu and for Xbox players the mission was called Jamais Vu. As reportedly previously, Kojima revealed that these exclusive missions would be going multi-platform and today is that day.

In the Deja Vu mission you control Solid Snake in a setting re-imagined as the Shadow Moses from Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action. The Jamais Vu has you controlling Raiden as he runs around the base like a mad man taking out shape-shifters all in the name of protecting mankind.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes serves as a prologue chapter to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Although there is no official release date for that game, a 2015 release is expected. There is a strong possibility that the release date will be unveiled at thus year’s E3.

PlayStation 4’s ‘Perfect Day’ Ad Wins 2014 Marketing Award

The Game Marketing Awards took place last night, which annually awards the greatest video game marketing. Of those winners, the one that took home Outstanding TV Ad was PlayStation 4‘s Perfect Day.

In the ad, two gamers sing about how the other’s company keeps them hanging on as they ruthlessly try to beat the other in the live-action recreation of the games that they are playing.

You can check out a full list of all the winners right here and the Perfect Day ad below.

Condemn (OR) Condone:

I love this ad, so I’m glad it beat out the competition. The mixture of the heart-warming lyrics and the viscous rivalry that is going on at the same time is genius.
